Bears Injury Report: Alshon Jeffery Could Return in Two Weeks

The Chicago Bears are expected to be without wide receiver Alshon Jeffery for this weekend’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans, but the rookie could rejoin the team in the next week or two, reports Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Titans in Tennessee but the rookie playmaker could be available for the Nov. 11 home game with the Texans or the Nov. 19 game against the 49ers in San Francisco.

Biggs notes that Jeffery should be able to return from the broken hand that’s sidelined him since early Oct. in the next two weeks, according to an unnamed source. Bears coach Lovie Smith has said that he wouldn’t be able to put a timeframe on Jeffery’s return.

Smith did say that Jeffery has been able to remain in shape while rehabbing his hand injury. Despite missing time to injury, the rookie is still third on the team in receptions (14) and second in receiving yards (184).

Seahawks Injury Report: Ben Obomanu Placed on IR

The Seattle Seahawks have placed wide receiver Ben Obomanu on injured reserve, ending his season, reports Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times.
Wide receiver Ben Obomanu was lost for the season after suffering a wrist injury.

The Seahawks have replaced Obomanu on their roster with rookie receiver Jermaine Kearse.

Obomanu was a utility receiver for the Seahawks and saw most of his playing time on special teams. The team used him as a run blocker on one-receiver, two tight end sets, according to O’Neil.

Beyond Obomanu, the Seahawks had several other question marks at wide receiver. Doug Baldwin is unlikely to be ready to return from a high ankle sprain, and Braylon Edwards’ (knee) status remains uncertain.

Michael Vick Remains Eagles Starting Quarterback

Michael Vick remains the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles for the time being, reports Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Therehave been rumblings that following the Eagles’ poor showing Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons the team could replace Vick with rookie quarterback Nick Foles.

The Eagles released a depth chart yesterday that still has Vick as the team’s starter. Both he and Foles have told reporters that they haven’t been told of an impending quarterback change.

Entering the season, most Eagles’ fans knew it was a possibility Foles would be seeing time this season as Vick’s replacement. However, many thought this was due to Vick’s proclivity to get hurt.

Instead, Vick’s been able to remain relatively healthy over the team’s first seven games, but his performance has left something to be desired. The veteran has thrown eight interceptions and has fumbled nine times.

Five NFL Teams Impacted Most By Injuries

Stephen Jackson Rumors: Rams Not Trading RB

St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson was one of the high-profile players floating around the NFL rumor mill as the trade deadline approached. However, Rams coach Jeff Fisher has said that the rumors are just that and the team plans to move forward with Jackson as their running back, reports Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

"The Steven Jackson rumors are rumors," Fisher said, during a media briefing at Rams Park. "He’s our running back.

Fisher said that the team isn’t calling around the league in an effort to shop Jackson. He added that the Rams are also not receiving calls for the Pro Bowler. There is certainly still time for things to develop, but it doesn’t appear that Jackson will be dealt before Thursday’s NFL trade deadline.

Jackson has been a productive back in the league for many years, and he’s reached the point where you begin to wonder how much he has left in the tank. The 29-year-old has rushed for 403 yards and one touchdown this season.

Giants Injury Report: Chase Blackburn, Mark Herzlich

New York Giants linebacker Chase Blackburn sustained a hamstring injury last weekend during the team’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys. The injury will keep Blackburn out of this Sunday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he will be replaced by Mark Herzlich, reports Mike Garafolo of USA Today.

Herzlich will likely be in for starting middle linebacker Chase Blackburn, who is expected to miss the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hamstring injury, according to a person informed of Blackburn's status.

Herzlich started two games for the Giants last season before suffering a high ankle sprain that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Following his injury, New York signed Blackburn as his replacement.

While Blackburn has played well, it will be interesting to see if Herzlich, who’s been hampered by injuries over his short NFL career, can show he’s worth a roster spot if he gets the start this weekend.

Buccaneers Injury Report: Carl Nicks to Have Surgery, Will be Placed on IR

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed Carl Nicks on injured reserve yesterday.  The Bucs' guard will undergo surgery to repair a torn plantar plate in his left toe.  The injury comes after Tampa Bay gave Nicks a new contract this past offseason.

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com reports that while Nicks will likely be replaced by either Ted Larsen, Jeremy Trueblood, or Cody Wallace.  Each has had game action this season either as a replacement due to injury or to simply fill in at a position of need.

Nicks has started all seven games this season for the Bucs.  He is a two-time All-Pro.  Last season he made the first team All-NFL.  In 2010, he was second team.  Nicks has played five NFL seasons.  This is his first in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers, who have already lost Davin Joseph to a season-ending injury, are just 3-4 on the season.  In the AFC that would probably mean they were in the playoff hunt.  In the NFC, though, there eight teams sitting at .500 or better.  Nicks injury will not help the team make the jump to contender.

Buccaneers Injury Report: Carl Nicks Out for the Season

Broncos Injury Report: Peyton Manning's Thumb "OK"

The Denver Broncos can ill-afford an injury to Peyton Manning.  And Peyton Manning surely doesn't want to be sidelined again after missing time due to his surgically repaired neck.  Fortunately, his thumb is doing alright after being struck by the helmet of New Orleans Saints defensive end Martez Wilson.

According to a report released by the Associated Press, Manning's thumb is fine, but the team is not happy with Wilson's hit.  It wasn't that Manning suffered a sore thumb on the play, it was that Martez's helmet made contact with Manning's chin - which should be a flag.  Yet, the most important thing for Denver is that Manning was able to play through the injury and appears to be doing alright.

Dolphins Injury Report: Ryan Tannehill Update

Ryan Tannehill acknowledged that if needed he probably could have re-entered Sunday's game against the New York Jets.  However, he was not needed.  The woeful Jets could do nothing against Miami, so there was no sense in risking Tannehill further.  An MRI was still scheduled after he was knocked out of the game with a knee injury.  Tannehill went for the MRI yesterday.

According to the Associated Press (as relayed by ESPN), Monday's MRI showed no structural damage in Tannehill's left knee.  The Dolhpins' quarterback should be fine and ready to go for the team's upcoming contest against the Indianapolis Colts.

Tannehill is in his rookie season, but earned the Dolphins starting job out of training camp.  So far this season, he has thrown for 1,472 yards and four touchdowns.  He also has made his share of rookie mistakes.  Tannehill has six interceptions and three fumbles so far this season.  However, the Dolphins are excited about his future with the team.

Under Tannehill's control, Miami has a 4-3 record.  They are just a half-game behind the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East.  The Dolphins and the Patriots has still yet to play.  They will play twice, and those games could become immensely important if both teams stay close in the standings.

Packers Injury Report: Greg Jennings Surgery Postponed by Hurricane

Greg Jennings was scheduled to have surgery today in Philadelphia.  Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, that won't be happening anymore.

The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver had his sports hernia procedure postponed because of the hurricane.  Now, Jennings doesn't know when he'll be able to have the surgery.  Originally diagnosed as a groin injury, it was later discovered that Jennings had a sports hernia and surgery would be necessary.

According to Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee, Jennings will remain in Green Bay until he and the team know when the surgery will take place.  Until then, all he can do is rest and wait.

Jennings has played in in three games this season and caught 12 passes.  He has 78 yards and one touchdown.  However, he has been limited by the injury and has not played since September 30th.  The 29-year old receiver would surely offer another viable target for Aaron Rodgers as the Packers look to get back into the playoff hunt.

Green Bay is currently 5-3, tied for second with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.  Both Green Bay and Minnesota are two games behind the surprisingly good Chicago Bears.

Could Philip Rivers' Arm Strength be One of the Many Problems Facing San Diego?

The San Diego Chargers are struggling.  They went to Cleveland to take on the Browns and managed just six points.  The team is now sitting on a 3-4 record, tied for second-place in the AFC West.  The Denver Broncos, under Peyton Manning's leadership, are looking like the team to beat in the West.  However, San Diego doesn't look like they have the weapons or ability to take them on right now.  Part of the problem could be Philip Rivers' arm strength.

Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports suspects Rivers may be concealing an injury that is affecting his arm strength.  Silver points out that Rivers has never been known as the kind of guy who is going to throw a bullet, but even a drop in velocity to a mediocre arm will result in plays being much more difficult to execute.  Silver had similar suspicions about Rivers toward the end of last season, but the Chargers' quarterback assured him there was nothing wrong.  If Silver is correct, and we my never know if he is, what does this mean for the future of the team?

Hurricane Sandy Causes NFL Trade Deadline to be Extended

The NFL trade deadline has been extended.  While not as integral a part of building an NFL team as it is a MLB team, the NFL trade deadline is still important.  With Hurricane Sandy barreling down on the east coast, the National Football League has announced that it will extend the deadline to Thursday, November 1st at 4 PM EST.

According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, spokesman for the NFL George Aiello announced the extension in large part due to many east coast facilities being shut down.  Many of the teams have told employees and players not to show up at the facilities today because of the impending weather.

As it relates to our coverage, the trade deadline offers teams a chance to try to recover from seemingly devastating injuries.  If a player whom a team was counting on goes down to injury, they generally have to rely on the next player on the depth chart.  In some cases, though, teams will go out and make a trade to fill the void.  If that's the case with any team this season, we'll be sure to bring you the coverage.

Bills Injury Report: Mario Williams Expects To Play On Sunday

Mario Williams hopes to be back on the field this Sunday, not that you may have realised his absence anyway in his blink-and-you’ll-miss-him-season thus far.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday his own earlier story that Buffalo was fined $20,000 for failing to disclose Williams’ injury earlier in the season despite the defensive end never missing a practice. The significance of Williams suiting up this Sunday is that the Bills face his former team, the Houston Texans, at Reliant Stadium.

According to John Wawrow of usnews.com,Williams had (what is believed to be arthroscopic) surgery last Tuesday in Alabama to “clean up” his left wrist and he already has better range of motion in the hand.

Williams signed a six-year, $100 million contract in March, with the team hoping his presence would be the final piece of the defensive line puzzle, allowing him to team up with Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, Chris Kelsay and Mark Anderson to wreak havoc among AFC East foes before tearing through the rest of the conference during the playoffs. That plan couldn’t have been further from being executed and they find themselves sitting third in their division behind a surging Miami Dolphins and the perennially potent New England Patriots.

Williams has 3.5 sacks on the season, second on the team, having set the Texans franchise record with 53 over six seasons before landing on injured reserve in Houston last season. He’ll have detailed knowledge of his former team’s schemes to pass on to his new coaches, but the Bills will need much more than that, not to mention unrivalled execution, if they’re to leave town with a .500 record.

Giants Injury Report: Chase Blackburn, Bear Pascoe Exit with Injuries

The New York Giants lost linebacker Chase Blackburn and tight end Bear Pascoe to injury during yesterday’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys, reports Randy Jennings of ESPNNewYork.com.

Blackburn injured his hamstring and limped off the field during the Cowboys’ second touchdown drive of the second half. He recorded five tackles during the game, giving him 47 on the season. He also has two sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception so far this year.

Pascoe suffered an ankle injury during the first half of the game. He was taken for X-rays that came back negative prior to halftime. His injury was later diagnosed as a sprained ankle.

Pascoe, who backs up starting tight end Martellus Bennett, has three catches for 19 yards and one touchdown this season.

Cowboys Injury Report: Dan Connor Strains Neck

Cowboys linebacker Dan Connor left yesterday’s loss to the New York Giants with a strained neck, reports Jimmy Burch of the Star-Telegram. Connor was replacing linebacker Sean Lee, who’s out for the remainder of the season, in Dallas’ lineup.

“I was out there feeling good. It happened,” Connor said. “Your shoulder goes numb and you get burners down your arms. It’s too early to tell (about the Atlanta game), I think.”

Initial X-rays were negative, but Connor is scheduled to undergo more tests this week before the Cowboys will be able to determine his availability for next week’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Following his second quarter injury, Connor was replaced by linebacker Orie Lemon

Steelers Injury Report: Ryan Clark Suffers Concussion

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark exited yesterday’s game against the Washington Redskins after sustaining a concussion, reports Marc Sessler of NFL.com. Clark wasn’t able to return, leaving the Steelers without both of their starting safeties, as Troy Polamalu didn’t start due to a calf injury.

The Pittsburgh Steelers safety suffered the head injury on a third-quarter tackle.

Clark underwent evaluation following the game. Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com shared texts with Clark who said he felt good and could recall details of the game.

The Steelers are certainly hoping to get Clark back as soon as possible, but no timeframe has been put on his return as of yet. Concussions can be tricky so there is certain to be more news on Clark’s injury and status for Week 9 over the next several days.

Patriots Injury Report: Wes Welker Injures Ankle

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker injured his left ankle during the team’s victory over the St. Louis Rams yesterday. He told reporters, including Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, that he thought the ankle injury was nothing to be overly concerned about.

“Yeah, I think so,” he answered. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on.”

Welker was injured during the fourth quarter of yesterday’s game after being tackled. He came up limping and removed himself from the game. The veteran wide out will be evaluated by the team this week and there will certainly be more news to come.

Welker is the Patriots’ leading receiver as he’s now caught 60 passes for 736 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

Cardinals Injury Report: John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, Todd Heap

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb will miss his second straight game due to a rib injury and will once again be replaced by John Skelton. Beyond Kolb, the Cardinals could also be without tight end Todd Heap (knee) when they take on the San Francisco 49ers tonight.

It’s been a quarterback carousel in Arizona this season, but it hasn’t been because of ineffective play. Skelton entered the season as the team’s starter but was injured Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. Kolb replaced him and started for the Cardinals until being knocked out of last week’s contest against the Buffalo Bills.

Neither quarterback is having an especially impressive season, but Arizona did win three of the four games Kolb started heading into last week’s contest against the Bills. Skelton is tasked with defeating the vaunted 49ers in what would be his first full game of the season.

Heap, who has a history of injury issues, has only played in two games for the Cardinals this season. He and fellow tight end Jim Dray (knee) are listed as questionable, as is safety Kerry Rhodes (back). Defensive lineman Darnell Dockett (hand) and Calais Campbell (quadriceps) are both probable.

49ers Injury Report: Frank Gore, Mario Manningham, Alex Smith

The San Francisco 49ers enter tonight’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals fairly healthy, as running back Frank Gore (ribs), wide receiver Mario Manningham (shoulder) and quarterback Alex Smith (right finger) are all probable to play, reports Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Mario Manningham are expected to start Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals after each player went through a full week of practice.

A rib injury sustained during last week’s contest against the Seattle Seahawks didn’t cause Gore to miss any practice time. So far this season the 29-year-old has rushed for 601 yards and four touchdowns while catching 15 passes for 110 yards.

After sitting out against the Seahawks, Manningham was able to return to practice at full capacity this week. Over five games played the wide receiver has 24 receptions for 258 yards and one touchdown.

Linebacker Tavares Gooden (elbow) is also listed as probable for the 49ers, while offensive lineman Joe Staley is questionable to play due to an illness.

Chiefs Injury Report: Brady Quinn Knocked Out of Game With Head Injury

That didn't last long.  The Brady Quinn experiment may already be over.  He went down to an apparent head injury yesterday and Matt Cassel replaced him.  Unlike when Matt Cassel went down with an injury a few weeks ago, the fans did not cheer Quinn's injury.  Quinn - as most back-up quarterbacks are when the starter is struggling - was the fan's choice to become the starter.  They got their wish, but Quinn was hit hard and left in the first quarter.

According to Andy Teicher of The Kansas City Star, Quinn suffered a possible concussion.  The former Notre Dame standout appears to still be the Chiefs' starting quarterback if he is healthy enough to play, but the team is not ready to commit to him being available just yet.

The 1-6 Chiefs will play on Thursday this week.  Quinn will surely have to pass the entire battery of concussion tests before he is allowed to play again.  It doesn't seem to matter who starts for the Chiefs this season as they continue to find ways to lose.  Yesterday, Kansas City lost 26-16 to the Oakland Raiders.

Matt Cassel's struggles are well-documented this season, but Quinn has not been much better in his short time as the Chiefs' starter.  He has gone a combined 24 for 40 with 212 yards passing and no touchdowns.  He does have two picks.  Quinn has not had much time to adjust as the quarterback, though.

Michael Vick Could Lose Starting Job While Healthy

It would come as no surprise to see Nick Foles take over as the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback should Michael Vick go down with yet another injury.  However, Vick may be replaced while healthy.  The Eagles fell to 3-4 on the season and coach Andy Reid is working on saving his own neck.  The only way to do that would be to save the Eagles' season.

According to Rueben Frank of CSN Philadelphia, Vick acknowledged the possible change and realizes the only thing he can do is play.  In the post-game press conference Vick said he knew Reid had to be thinking about making a change, and if it happened he would support his coach.  But it wouldn't be easy.
“It’s tough when you know everything is up in the balance, but that’s the decision that coach is thinking about making, and I’m going to fight until he says, 'Come on out,' and he takes me out of the game. Despite everything that’s been said the last couple weeks, I still continue to put in the hard work and the effort and try to do everything I can to prepare and win football games, man."
Vick already has nine fumbles on the season and eight interceptions.  In seven games, he alone has given the ball away a total of 17 times.  That can't happen.  On the plus side, Vick has eight TD passes and over 1600 yards.  But it's not enough if he keeps turning the ball over.  In the Eagles loss to the Atlanta Falcons yesterday, Vick went 21 for 35 for 191 yards and one TD.  He didn't turn the ball over, but he also didn't do enough to offset the team's poor defense.

While Vick has struggled mightily this season, yesterday's loss should not be pinned on him.  Vick could have performed better and the Eagles could have still lost.  When the defense gives up 30 points, it's hard to overcome.  But at this point in the season, Vick's troubles will be magnified and we may see Nick Foles next season.

Dolphins Injury Report: Ryan Tannehil Injured, but Miami Wins

Calvin Pace was untouched as he raced into the Miami Dolphins' backfield.  The New York Jets' linebacker was able to break through without resistance thanks to a miscommunication on the offensive line.  He sacked Dolphins' quarterback Ryan Tannehill and ultimately forced the rookie from the game. Tannehill was able to limp off the field but he did not return.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Tannehill suffered a left leg/quad injury.  He was worked on by team trainers, but was unable to return to the game despite looking fine on the sidelines.  It didn't end up mattering as the Dolphins rolled the Jets 30-9.  After the game, it was revealed that Tannehill had suffered a hyperextended left knee.

Tannehill has performed solidly in his first season in the NFL.  He has four touchdowns and six interceptions.  He's also thrown for 1,454 yards.  With him under center, the Dolphins are 4-3 on the season.  They are just a half-game behind the Patriots for first in the AFC East.

The Dolphins and Tannehill are optimistic about his chances of playing next week.
“I was optimistic about getting back in the game, and I’m optimistic about getting ready to go next week,” Tannehill said. “I could’ve gone if it was an emergency situation. Was trying to get it loose so I could be good to go, (but) we were up big and Matt (Moore) was doing a good job."

Jordy Nelson Injury: Packers WR Unlikely to Play

The Green Bay Packers will already be without several high-profile players during today’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports wide receiver Jordy Nelson is also unlikely to suit up.

Jordy Nelson (hamstring) is questionable, but SI's Peter King believes the wide receiver is unlikely to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Nelson has been hampered by a hamstring injury that had him listed as questionable entering the week. Because hamstrings can turn into lingering issues, especially for wide receivers, if not treated properly, the Packers may be wise to sit Nelson this week. Also, they don’t figure to need him to beat the Jaguars, who will be without Pro Bowler Maurice Jones-Drew.

Over his five games played this season Nelson has caught 40 passes for 532 yards and five touchdowns. The Packers will already be without Greg Jennings as he recovers from a groin injury, so James Jones and Randall Cobb are expected to see time at wide receiver today.

Rams Injury Report: Danny Amendola Doubtful vs. Patriots

Despite returning to practice this week, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola is not expected to play today against the New England Patriots, reports Albert Breer of NFL.com.

Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola (shoulder) is not expected to play, according to NFL.com and NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Amendola returned to practice this week for the Rams much sooner than he was expected to do so after sustaining his shoulder injury that some considered serious and even life threatening. There were rumblings that Amendola may be on the field for the Rams in London today, but it now doesn’t look like he’ll be able to suit up.

Even when he was able to return to practice earlier in the week it was speculated that Amendola would miss another few weeks of action and be ready to go following St. Louis’ bye week.

Giants Injury Report: Ahmad Bradshaw Expects to Play

New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw remains listed as questionable for today’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, but he has said he’s going to suit up for the pivotal division matchup, reports Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger.

RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) is questionable but said he'll play.

Two starters didn’t make the trip to Dallas with the team, as safety Kenny Phillips and defensive tackle Rocky Bernard have officially been ruled out for today’s game. Phillips has been hampered by a knee injury, while a tweaked quad has sidelined Bernard for the past three games. Linebacker Jacquian Williams (knee) was also ruled out earlier in the week.

The Giants have center David Baas (ankle) and wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (knee/foot) listed as probable to play.

Jimmy Graham Injury: Saints TE Makes Trip

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham traveled with the team to Colorado for tonight’s game against the Denver Broncos, reports Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com. Graham remains a game-time decision due to his ankle injury.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirms that Graham made the trip in advance of Sunday night’s showdown between Drew Brees and Peyton Manning.

What’s significant about Graham making the trip is that he didn’t do so last week when the Saints traveled to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New Orleans thought Graham would be back and ready to return this week after sitting out the Bucs game, but it’s been more difficult for the tight end to recover than initially expected. Florio notes that Graham’s still not a certainty to suit up against the Broncos just because he made the trip to Denver.

Broncos Injury Report: Tracy Porter “Unlikely” to Play

The Denver Broncos have listed cornerback Tracy Porter as questionable for tonight’s contest against his former team, the New Orleans Saints, but NFL.com’s Michelle Meisner reports that the defensive back is unlikely to play.

Denver Broncos cornerback Tracy Porter is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints, but sources tell NFL.com and NFL Network's Michelle Beisner that Porter is unlikely to play.

Porter has said throughout the week that he hopes to play, and he was at the Broncos’ facility yesterday for the team’s walkthrough. He told reporters that everything “looked normal” when he was evaluated by doctors. He’s recovering from light-headedness and a racing heart, symptoms similar to those he experienced before suffering a seizure in August.

While doctors haven’t been able to determine the root cause of Porter’s initial seizure, they are confident that it won’t happen again.

Redskins Injury Report: London Fletcher Will Start

Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher is expected to start today against the Pittsburgh Steelers, keeping his consecutive games streak alive, reports Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
Fletcher enters today’s matchup with the Steelers having played in 231 consecutive games. This streak was put in jeopardy this week when it was reported that he was dealing with balance issues and a hamstring injury. He experienced the balance issues through the week and sustained the hamstring injury during last weekend’s loss to the New York Giants.

Over his five games played this season, Fletcher has 59 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception.

Browns Injury Report: Scott Fujita Placed on IR

The Cleveland Browns have placed linebacker Scott Fujita on injured reserve with a neck injury. While it’s now clear that the injury will sideline Fujita for the remainder of the 2012 season, the veteran has said that it could end his playing career.

"It's still early in the process for that," Fujita, 33, said. "I just want to get healthy, and then it will be some private conversations between me and my wife and our doctors."

Fujita sustained the neck injury during an Oct. 7 contest against the New York Giants. While he’s not yet decided that he’s going to step away from football, he has discussed it with his family.

Fujita underwent neck surgery in college and considers himself lucky to have played as long as he has in the NFL considering. While he’s reluctant to retire, he also said that he doesn’t want to make his neck problems worse and require another surgery.

Jets Injury Report: Bart Scott's Streak to Come to an End

Of all the things to take Bart Scott out of a game, would anyone have expected it to be turf toe?  The New York Jets linebacker, who has played in 119 straight games, will miss tomorrow's game against the Miami Dolphins.  Scott has not missed a game since 2005, and his streak has been an inspiration for the Jets' defense.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, that streak will come to an end.  He has been battling a toe injury, and it turned out to be turf toe.
Scott's consecutive games-played streak is impressive in and of itself.  But once you consider the fact that he is a linebacker, it's even more impressive.  We often see quarterbacks with long streaks, but they are protected like no one else on the field.  A linebacker's sole job is to hit people hard.  Injuries happen.  Yet, Scott has managed 119 straight games.

The injury shouldn't sideline him long, but turf toe is a tricky injury that often simply requires rest.  Every player responds differently to a turf toe type injury.  The Jets hope Scott will only miss one week with the injury.

Scott has been in the league since 2002.  He has split his time almost evenly between the Baltimore Ravens and the Jets.  He's been with the Jets for the last eight seasons now.

Saints Injury Report: Jimmy Graham Game-Time Decision vs. Broncos

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham will be a game-time decision Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, reports Kareem Copeland of NFL.com

"If it was up to me, I'd play," said Graham, who was listed as questionable on the Saints’ injury report. "I'm good."

Graham, who’s recovering from an ankle injury, was limited in practice Friday. He said the ankle is definitely coming along, but it’s not to the point where the Saints were willing to declare him probable for tomorrow night.

Over his first five games of the season, Graham has 25 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com believes there’s a 50-50 chance that he suits up tomorrow night.

Patriots vs. Rams Injury Report: Aaron Hernandez, Patrick Chung, Danny Amendola

The New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams are in London this weekend to share the gift of the NFL with our friends across the pond. However, several familiar faces didn’t make the trip, including Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Hernandez was able to return to action last week after being sidelined due to an ankle injury. He didn’t make the trip with New England this week, as his ankle isn’t responding to treatment. This is causing the big target to experience trouble cutting.

Safety Patrick Chung and running back Brandon Bolden were among six others that didn’t make the trip, including cornerback Ras-I Dowling who the Patriots recently placed on IR.

Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola is attempting to come back much sooner than expected from a severe shoulder injury. While he was able to practice earlier this week, most expected Amendola to be sidelined through the team’s by week. However, he’s yet to be ruled out.

Steelers Injury Report: Troy Polamalu, Rashard Mendenhall, Isaac Redman

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without safety Troy Polamalu and running back Rashard Mendenhall tomorrow when they take on the Washington Redskins. Both players have been ruled out for tomorrow’s contest, while running back Isaac Redman will likely be a game-time decision.

Polamalu has been dealing with a calf injury that’s caused him to miss much of the season. Mendenhall was able to return from major knee surgery earlier this season only to injure his Achilles. The Steelers will also be without offensive lineman Marcus Gilbert (ankle) and linebacker Brandon Johnson (hamstring).

Redman has been hampered by an ankle injury, but he was able to practice Friday after being limited earlier in the week. He is hoping to join running back Jonathan Dwyer in the Steelers’ backfield against the Redskins.

Center Maurkice Pouncey (knee), safety Will Allen (ankle), linebackers Adrian Robinson (concussion), Chris Carter (hamstring) and Jason Worilds (illness) and kicker Shaun Suisham (ankle) are all listed as probable to play.
