Jets Injury Report: Bart Scott's Streak to Come to an End

Of all the things to take Bart Scott out of a game, would anyone have expected it to be turf toe?  The New York Jets linebacker, who has played in 119 straight games, will miss tomorrow's game against the Miami Dolphins.  Scott has not missed a game since 2005, and his streak has been an inspiration for the Jets' defense.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, that streak will come to an end.  He has been battling a toe injury, and it turned out to be turf toe.
Scott's consecutive games-played streak is impressive in and of itself.  But once you consider the fact that he is a linebacker, it's even more impressive.  We often see quarterbacks with long streaks, but they are protected like no one else on the field.  A linebacker's sole job is to hit people hard.  Injuries happen.  Yet, Scott has managed 119 straight games.

The injury shouldn't sideline him long, but turf toe is a tricky injury that often simply requires rest.  Every player responds differently to a turf toe type injury.  The Jets hope Scott will only miss one week with the injury.

Scott has been in the league since 2002.  He has split his time almost evenly between the Baltimore Ravens and the Jets.  He's been with the Jets for the last eight seasons now.
