That didn't last long. The Brady Quinn experiment may already be over. He went down to an apparent head injury yesterday and Matt Cassel replaced him. Unlike when Matt Cassel went down with an injury a few weeks ago, the fans did not cheer Quinn's injury. Quinn - as most back-up quarterbacks are when the starter is struggling - was the fan's choice to become the starter. They got their wish, but Quinn was hit hard and left in the first quarter.
According to Andy Teicher of The Kansas City Star, Quinn suffered a possible concussion. The former Notre Dame standout appears to still be the Chiefs' starting quarterback if he is healthy enough to play, but the team is not ready to commit to him being available just yet.
The 1-6 Chiefs will play on Thursday this week. Quinn will surely have to pass the entire battery of concussion tests before he is allowed to play again. It doesn't seem to matter who starts for the Chiefs this season as they continue to find ways to lose. Yesterday, Kansas City lost 26-16 to the Oakland Raiders.
Matt Cassel's struggles are well-documented this season, but Quinn has not been much better in his short time as the Chiefs' starter. He has gone a combined 24 for 40 with 212 yards passing and no touchdowns. He does have two picks. Quinn has not had much time to adjust as the quarterback, though.
