Ryan Tannehill acknowledged that if needed he probably could have re-entered Sunday's game against the New York Jets. However, he was not needed. The woeful Jets could do nothing against Miami, so there was no sense in risking Tannehill further. An MRI was still scheduled after he was knocked out of the game with a knee injury. Tannehill went for the MRI yesterday.
According to the Associated Press (as relayed by ESPN), Monday's MRI showed no structural damage in Tannehill's left knee. The Dolhpins' quarterback should be fine and ready to go for the team's upcoming contest against the Indianapolis Colts.
Tannehill is in his rookie season, but earned the Dolphins starting job out of training camp. So far this season, he has thrown for 1,472 yards and four touchdowns. He also has made his share of rookie mistakes. Tannehill has six interceptions and three fumbles so far this season. However, the Dolphins are excited about his future with the team.
Under Tannehill's control, Miami has a 4-3 record. They are just a half-game behind the New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East. The Dolphins and the Patriots has still yet to play. They will play twice, and those games could become immensely important if both teams stay close in the standings.
