Dolphins Injury Report: Ryan Tannehil Injured, but Miami Wins

Calvin Pace was untouched as he raced into the Miami Dolphins' backfield.  The New York Jets' linebacker was able to break through without resistance thanks to a miscommunication on the offensive line.  He sacked Dolphins' quarterback Ryan Tannehill and ultimately forced the rookie from the game. Tannehill was able to limp off the field but he did not return.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Tannehill suffered a left leg/quad injury.  He was worked on by team trainers, but was unable to return to the game despite looking fine on the sidelines.  It didn't end up mattering as the Dolphins rolled the Jets 30-9.  After the game, it was revealed that Tannehill had suffered a hyperextended left knee.

Tannehill has performed solidly in his first season in the NFL.  He has four touchdowns and six interceptions.  He's also thrown for 1,454 yards.  With him under center, the Dolphins are 4-3 on the season.  They are just a half-game behind the Patriots for first in the AFC East.

The Dolphins and Tannehill are optimistic about his chances of playing next week.
“I was optimistic about getting back in the game, and I’m optimistic about getting ready to go next week,” Tannehill said. “I could’ve gone if it was an emergency situation. Was trying to get it loose so I could be good to go, (but) we were up big and Matt (Moore) was doing a good job."
