New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker injured his left
ankle during the team’s victory over the St. Louis Rams yesterday. He told
reporters, including Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, that he thought the ankle injury
was nothing to be overly concerned about.

“Yeah, I think so,” he answered. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on.”
Welker was injured during the fourth quarter of yesterday’s
game after being tackled. He came up limping and removed himself from the game.
The veteran wide out will be evaluated by the team this week and there will
certainly be more news to come.
Welker is the Patriots’ leading receiver as he’s now caught
60 passes for 736 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
