St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson was one of the
high-profile players floating around the NFL rumor mill as the trade deadline
approached. However, Rams coach Jeff Fisher has said that the rumors are just
that and the team plans to move forward with Jackson as their running back,
reports Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

"The Steven Jackson rumors are rumors," Fisher said, during a media briefing at Rams Park. "He’s our running back.
Fisher said that the team isn’t calling around the league in
an effort to shop Jackson. He added that the Rams are also not receiving calls
for the Pro Bowler. There is certainly still time for things to develop, but it
doesn’t appear that Jackson will be dealt before Thursday’s NFL trade deadline.
Jackson has been a productive back in the league for many
years, and he’s reached the point where you begin to wonder how much he has
left in the tank. The 29-year-old has rushed for 403 yards and one touchdown
this season.
