Raiders' Terrelle Pryor will start, Matt Flynn demoted

The Oakland Raiders have announced that Terrelle Pryor will be their starting quarterback this week, which means he has passed all his concussion tests.  Pryor was originally the starter before suffering a concussion two weeks ago.  Pryor gives the Raiders offense a dynamic dual threat, he can make plays with his feet and his arm and has played well so far this season with not much help.

Everyone knew when Pryor was healthy he would come back to be the Raiders starter, but maybe the bigger story is that the Raiders announced their depth chart and Matt Flynn has been demoted to the third string quarterback.  Head coach Dennis Allen was very critical of Flynn's play last week when he started in place for Pryor.  It is safe to say the Raiders made a mistake by acquiring Flynn, they gave up a draft pick and are paying more than $6 million for his services.  That is a hefty price for a backup, but that is way too much for a third stringer.

Matt Mcgloin, an undrafted rookie has been named the second string quarterback.  If Flynn can't beat out an undrafted rookie quarterback it is safe to say he may never be a starter.  The Raiders play a division rival in the Chargers this week so it will be an important game for both teams.  Look for Pryor to provide a spark in the Raiders offense this week.
