Packers injury updates: Clay Matthews, Brad Jones

Most of the injury-related attention the Green Bay Packers have received has been given to Pro-Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews. While Matthews won't be suiting up for this weekend's contest against the Baltimore Ravens, he's not the only linebacker the Packers will be missing. Head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters -- including Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel -- that Brad Jones will also be out this week.

McCarthy added that he does not believe Jones will be required to miss an extended period of time due to his injury. Jones is hampered by a bum hamstring, and despite McCarthy's belief it's hard to predict how long they will take to heal, given the possibility of aggravation.

Jones had started the team's previous four games, but he will now be replaced b Jamari Lattimore in the team's starting lineup. Andy Mulumba is also dealing with an injury, and with Matthews recovering from surgery to repair a broken thumb the team will be extremely limited at the linebacker position.

Speaking of Matthews, the Packers said yesterday -- via Rob Demovsky of ESPN -- that surgery was unavoidable. When Matthews is able to return to the field, which is likely to take at least a month, he is expected to be required to sport a cast to protect his damaged digit.
