Start Andrew Luck vs. Chargers. San Diego has allowed 12
touchdowns to opposing QBs this year to accompany over 335 yards per game. The
only QB to not score multiple times against the Chargers this year is Jake
Locker, and Andrew Luck is coming off of a strong week against the Seahawks.
Start Robert Griffin III vs. Cowboys. RGIII put up over 500
yards and 5 touchdowns against the Cowboys in 2 games last year. The Cowboys
secondary also seems to be the worst in football; allowing a league-high 15
touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks in addition to 345 passing yards per game.
Start Jay Cutler vs. Giants. Jay is coming off of a great
outing against a tough Saints defense last week and we all know that New York’s
defense has a lot of room to improve: They have allowed multiple touchdowns to
QBs every week in 2013.
Start Tony Romo vs. Redskins. I don’t usually like picking a
lot of QBs playing in division games as they are habitually unpredictable, but
how can you not start Romo after last week? I’m not going to suggest that the
Redskins have the potential to score as frequently as the Broncos did, but Romo
has scored 8 times in his last 3 games against the Skins, and Washington has
given up 365 yards per game in their last three matchups.
Start Mike Glennon vs. Eagles. I’m guessing most of the guys
I’ve already mentioned aren’t still available in your league (with Cutler being
the possible exception) so if you over-invested in Mike Vick, or you’re a Matt
Ryan owner and you were hoping someone like EJ Manuel or Matt Schaub were going
to be a good start come week 6 you might want to go in another direction.
Glennon is a condition start (I’m assuming his WRs; Williams & Jackson are
healthy), and he has a huge upside against a struggling Eagles secondary.
Sit Matt Cassel vs. Panthers. Not sure many fantasy owners
were planning on starting Cassel, but he could have been a good bye-week
fill-in if the matchup wasn’t so horrible. The Panthers have only allowed 3
touchdowns to opposing QBs all season. Despite Cassel’s apparent chemistry with
Greg Jennings, it’s maybe time to swap him out for a guy like Jay Cutler or
Mike Glennon.
Sit Russell Wilson vs. Titans. This is a big game for both
teams: The Seahawks are trying to stay one game up on the 49ers that have an
easier matchup against Arizona, and the Titans currently boast a 1-game lead
over the Texans in the AFC South and are trying to hang with the Colts for the
division. Wilson is certainly not the most explosive rushing QB in the league,
but he does have 233 rushing yards on the season (NFL-2nd). The
Titans, on the other hand, have held opposing QBs to under 4 rushing yards per
game.
Sit Cam Newton vs. Vikings. Minnesota not giving up anything
on the ground this year and Cam is not going to do well if he is reserved to the pocket.
Sit Carson Palmer vs. 49ers.
