Oakland Raiders cut Matt Flynn

Matt Flynn is no longer an Oakland Raider.  The Raiders announced today that they have cut Flynn, which makes him a free agent.  The Raiders acquired Flynn this offseason expecting him to be the starting quarterback.  Flynn was beat out in the preseason by Terrelle Pryor and was never able to get the starting gig back from Pryor.  Flynn did start one game due to Pryor suffering a concussion and played bad.  In fact, after the game he started he was demoted from the back up role to the third string quarterback.

The Raiders will still have to pay Flynn $6.5 million, which is quite lucrative for a quarterback without a job.  The question now becomes where will Flynn sign?  A team that still needs a quarterback will surely take a chance on him for a backup role.  A couple teams that may be currently looking for a quarterback are the Jaguars and Bills.

It is safe to assume that the Raiders know they made a mistake by trading away a 5th round pick for Flynn, who didn't even last a full season in Oakland, but the Raiders feel they have a very good quarterback with Pryor.  Pryor has exceeded expectations early in the season.
