Falcons fear Julio Jones' season is over

The Atlanta Falcons lost wide receiver Roddy White to a hamstring injury during last night's disappointing contest against the New York Jets, but fellow wide out Julio Jones also exited the game with a foot injury. White received more attention considering his early-season struggles, but it looks like Jones' ailment may be more severe. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Falcons' initial determination is that Jones' season is over.

The Falcons are hoping that a second opinion says otherwise, but at this point it looks like Jones could be done for the remainder of the season. It's unclear what his foot injury is, but it could be a Lisfranc considering the apparent severity.

Jones has been the Falcons' top receiver, especially considering White's struggles while he's dealt with his high ankle sprain. On the season, Jones has caught 41 passes for 580 yards. It would be a huge blow to the Falcons, who are already reeling after their 1-4 start.

One Response to Falcons fear Julio Jones' season is over

  1. Jones is a good dood- let's hope he is not out for the season. One of my favorite receivers and one of the best in the game today. The Falcons can't afford to lose Julio. What has happened to this team?
