Do not hold your breath Patriots Nation, Michael
David Smith of NBCSports reports that Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski, will
be "Gronking it" on Sunday as the eccentric tight end is now cleared
to play. Smith sites a "league source"
who tells Smith that Gronkowski is all systems go this week and should see
action against the New Orleans Saints.
UPDATE: Michael David Smith additionally reports that the final decision will be made later in the week, with Dr. James Andrews in charge of the decision-making process. Do the Redskins know he has left their building? Dr. Andrews must go home and burn money.
In the tub the last five weeks while rehabbing back and forearm injuries, Gronkowski's return will be a welcomed addition to a Patriots' offense that has looked utterly offensive. Unable to get out of its own way against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, the Pats O had one of their worst performances in the Tom Brady Bill Belichick era.
I am not sure how much Gronkowski will help this week since the Saints big defensive line can get after the quarterback in its base defensive packages with just its front four while bringing timely blitzes with its defensive backs.
No doubt, Saints defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, will try to fancy something up to get in Brady’s sexy mug. However, now he will have to account for Gronkowski and that might be enough for the Patriots to contend with a bothersome Saints defense.
Can I have my side of hash browns for 87 cents now please? I guess it is better late than never, Gronk.
