Ravens' Terrell Suggs, healthy and returning to defensive form

The Baltimore Ravens, tied for first in the AFC North, are back on top in large part due to their defense led by veteran linebacker, Terrell Suggs.  As Dan Hanzus of NFL.com reports, Suggs is back to where he wants to be.

Baltimore Ravens LB, Terrell Suggs, is back.  Last week against the Miami Dolphins, Suggs had three sacks in the fourth quarter leading the Ravens to a 26-23 win.  Suggs already has seven sacks on the season, with at least one sack in each game which is a franchise record.

These early accomplishments for Suggs are an even bigger achievement considering where he was a year ago.  Last season, Suggs battled two major injuries, a partially torn Achilles tendon and then a torn biceps muscle.  One of those injuries alone would end the season, if not the career, of some NFL players.  Remarkably, Suggs played in the postseason and though he was not the same player he was in 2011 when he won Defensive Player of the Year, he is now a Super Bowl Champion.

Suggs is back where it all begins now.  Healthy and playing incredible defensive football, Suggs at age 30 shows no signs of slowing down.  The Ravens are where they are right now because of Suggs and their defense.   Defensive comrade, safety, James Ihedigbo, summed it up masterfully, telling reporters, "Man, he's a beast.  I told him, 'I'm glad you're on my team.'"

Arguable Suggs is playing the best football of his career and no doubt, he would enjoy another Defensive Player of the Year honor.  However, what drives him, more importantly, is the chance at another Super Bowl ring.

Suggs is back, and the rest of the NFL should take notice and if they do not, I am sure Suggs will let them know.
