Bills’ Thad Lewis from practice squad to starter

Josh Alper of NBCSports reports that the Buffalo Bills will promote practice squad quarterback, Thad Lewis, to the varsity team and will start him this week as the Bills take on the Cincinnati Bengals October 13.

Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel injured his knee last Thursday night and will be about indefinitely.  Jeff Tuel showed no signs of taking over the team in an unimpressive showing in relief.  The Bills must have zero confidence in Tuel as Bills head coach Doug Marrone announced Monday morning that Tuel would lose his starting job to a practice squad quarterback.

In addition, coach Marrone in a statement through the team spoke of his chances with Lewis, “Thad gives us the best chance. We’re going to give him an opportunity to see what he has."

Signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2010, Lewis started one game for the Browns last season (his only regular season experience) going 22-of-32 for 204 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The Bills tried desperately to sign ex-Buccaneers QB, Josh Freeman, before Freeman decided to sign with the Vikings piling on more evidence that the Bills do not even want Tuel in meetings.  Ok, they want him in meetings, however, in all honesty, when your head coach says that a practice squad QB with one NFL regular season game gives his team the best chance to win, you might as well tell Tuel to carry the towels.

I guess these are the same old Bills.
