The Philadelphia Eagles were able to collect their second
win of the season, which along with a Dallas Cowboys’ loss put them tied for
first place in the lowly NFC East. During the victory over the New York Giants,
the Eagles lost starting quarterback Michael Vick to a hamstring injury. While the
ailment sidelined Vick for the remainder of the game, he told reporters that the
injury isn’t serious.
Vick said that he could have returned to the game if Foles
got hurt. The decision to keep him sidelined was one the team’s coaches and
training staff made, and the veteran quarterback agreed with it.
"Yeah, I would have gone in and just made sure I could sustain for the team," Vick said. "The coaches understood, why have me in the game when I'm not 100 percent when you have a healthy quarterback on the sideline?"
Vick grabbed at his hamstring after one of several long runs
he made during yesterday’s game. He attempted to continue to play through the
next series, but after being tackled by Jason Pierre-Paul he was removed from
the game. Vick clearly wasn’t moving around like he normally would as the
hamstring was bothering him.
For his part, Vick hopes to play next week when the Eagles
take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He indicated that he’s played through an
injury such as the one he’s suffering from now before, adding that the previous
injury caused him to miss one week of action.
