Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Luke Joekel has been
ruled out for the remainder of the season after head coach Gus Bradley
confirmed the second-overall pick in April's NFL Draft suffered a broken ankle during yesterday’s
contest against the St. Louis Rams.
Joeckel suffered the injury in the first quarter of
yesterday’s contest while run blocking for Maurice Jones-Drew. He was rolled up
on by a Rams’ player, leaving him in obvious pain. He had to be carted off the
field, and the severity of the injury came after X-rays were administered.

Joeckel’s injury comes in the same week he was promoted to
left tackle. Earlier in the week, Jacksonville traded former left tackle,
Eugene Monroe, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for draft picks. The Jaguars
were comfortable doing so because they wanted to give Joeckel a shot at playing
his natural position.
At this point, the only tackles the Jaguars have on their
roster are Austin Pasztor and Cameron Bradfield. They’re likely to make a move
to acquire at least one tackle as they continue to trudge along in what’s
looking to be an extremely long season in Jacksonville.
