Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice (hip flexor) and
defensive lineman, Chris Canty (strained groin) are close to returning to
action, reports Aaron
Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh is optimistic that both players
will return soon, telling reporters:
He [Rice] was close this week to a degree. So was Chris. Muscle things, you never know for sure. But they were in the ballpark this week. I think that puts them really in the ballpark [for Sunday]. We have a chance to get Chris back. We have a chance to get Ray back. We'll see as the week goes on how it goes.
Not so fortunate is backup nose tackle, Terrence Cody. Tests confirm Cody has a sprained left knee. Cody is likely to miss Sunday's game. Harbaugh said of Cody, "Terrence Cody has a sprained knee. I think it would be a stretch to expect him back this week. We're going to try. More likely it will be after this week coming back."
In related Ravens’ injury news, RB, Shaun Draughn, has a high-ankle sprain and linebacker, Albert McClellan, has a minor hip injury. However, no roster moves have been made at this time concerning Draughn.
UPDATE:
Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun reports that Rice was limited participation on Wednesday and Rice told reporters that he plans to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Wilson reports that Rice moved without any difficulty or pain during the open portion of practice.
Wilson also reports that starting defensive lineman Chris Canty was back practicing on a limited basis and Canty told reporters he feels "pretty good."
In related Ravens' injury news, wide receiver Deonte Thompson (sprained left foot), inside linebacker Arthur Brown (strained left pectoral) and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (right big toe) were limited participation on Wednesday.
