The New York Jets refurbished running back group may lose
one of its cogs. Jets running back,
Chris Ivory, injured his hamstring in the Jets’ win over the Buffalo Bills on
Sunday and could be out for some time.
Dan Hanzus of NFL.com tells us that Ivory injured the same hamstring in training camp. However, the first injury to the hamstring was in a different location on the tendons. In Ivory’s first time around the block with this injury, Ivory missed most of training camp. The Jets expect a similar situation for this second hamstring injury and do not expect Ivory to be back anytime soon.
RB Bilal Powell is now the Jets No. 1 ball carrier and he proved his mettle against the Bills, rushing for a career high 149 yards.
There is no current timetable for Ivory’s return. One thing is certain; Powell must keep his newfound ground production at an extremely high level if the Jets want to continue their recent winning ways.
