Vikings’ Erin Henderson misses practice with ankle injury

When Minnesota Vikings middle linebacker Erin Henderson suffered his ankle injury during Thursday’s practice session, he told Dan Wiederer of the Star Tribune that he immediately assumed the worst considering the intense pain he was experiencing. However, following the initial shock and pain of the injury, Henderson realized it “wasn’t too bad.”
“Really, really painful,” Henderson said. “I’ve been playing ball since I was 7 years old and I’ve never had anything like that happen to me before. … It was on fire. There was a little bit of fire down there. But once it calmed down a little bit, then I realized it wasn’t too bad.”
As a result of Thursday’s injury, Henderson didn’t suit up for practice yesterday. However, he did say that he expects to play in the Vikings’ third preseason game, which is Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. During the game, Henderson expects to be full-go with the first-team defense.

Audie Cole has taken reps with the first-team defense in Henderson’s place, so if for whatever reason the regular can’t go, Cole would fill in for him. But it doesn’t look like this is a concern, at least for the team’s third preseason game.
