Ravens trim some feathers cut Visanthe Shiancoe, others

In advance of the Tuesday deadline for teams to cut down their rosters to 75 players, the Baltimore Ravens cleaned out the cage parting ways with a flock of players, including tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens made plenty of rosters moves, most notable terminating the contract of TE Shiancoe and releasing offensive lineman Ramon Harewood.

The former Minnesota Vikings TE signed a one-year nonguaranteed contract earlier in training camp when Dennis Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip.  However, Shiancoe became expandable when the Ravens signed TE Dallas Clark and TE Ed Dickson returned to practice after nursing a sore hamstring.

In other moves, the Ravens placed linebacker Adrian Hamilton on injured reserve and cut LBs Bryan Hall and Meshak Williams.

The Ravens also released wide receivers Tommy Streeter, Gerrard Sheppard and Rashaad Carter and cut strings with cornerback Moe Lee, running back Damien Berry, offensive tackle Jack Cornell, defensive lineman Will Pericak and OL David Mims.

Baltimore signed quarterback Dayne Crist.
