Jets sign WR Braylon Edwards to one-year deal

The Jets continue to make their feelings on Santonio Holmes apparent. The team renewed their one-year commitment with 30-year-old wide out Braylon Edwards today. Edwards played with the team in 2012, but only started in 3 games, catching 10 passes for 125 yards.

Braylon Edwards has become a bit of a journeyman over the last decade. He spent his first five seasons playing for Cleveland after being drafted 3rd overall in 2005. Since his tenure expired with the Browns Edwards has spent time with the Jets, Seahawks, and 49ers. His best production value came in 2007 where he teamed up with QB Ken Dorsey for 80 catches and 16 TDs. In 2010 Edwards had 7 scores as a Jet, but only found the end zone 17 times combined in his other eight years in the league. His new deal is likely the league-veteran-minimum, or close to it.

Fantasy Impact: Unless you're in a deeper league or a massive Jets fan, it's unlikely that you'll pay any attention to this move. What makes Edwards especially uninteresting is his sub-50% catch rate when targeted. (45.8% in the last 7 years.) - If anything, Edwards signing with the Jets only further decreases Santonio Holmes' fantasy value.
