Cardinals making moves on veteran free agents

Free agent defensive end John Abraham and free agent offensive tackle Eric Winston are both on the Cardinals' radar going into training camp.

The Cardinals used their first round draft pick this year to select offensive guard Jonathan Cooper. They are now looking to add depth to the outside of the offensive line. Offensive tackles currently on roster include Levi Brown, Nate Potter (added 10 pounds this off-season), Bobby Massie, Paul Fanaika, Jamaal Johnson-Webb, and Joe Caprioglio. The team has offered free agent Eric Winston a one-year deal. Winston played in Kansas City last season, and spent '06 - '11 in Houston. Winston has started in 16 games annually since 2007. He'll be 30 years old this year.

Also taking a trip to Phoenix is ex-Falcon John Abraham. Abraham is a 13-year veteran who spent six seasons on the Jets, and the last seven in Atlanta. He has recorded 122 career sacks. Abraham would be competing against Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett, Frostee Rucker, Matt Shaughnessy, and Ronald Talley for play time. He has been a free agent under the microscope since the beginning of the season, I'd speculate he has yet to find a team because he doesn't like the idea of being a No. 2. I think it's time for him to find some humility, and realize his job as a mentor may be his greatest asset to an NFL team.
