Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell told
reporters – including Ryan O’Halloran of The Florida Times-Union – that the
team’s trio of veterans, running back Maurice Jones-Drew, wide receiver Justin
Blackmon and defensive end Jason Babin, coming off surgeries will be evaluated
early next week to decide if they will be full participants when training camp
begins.
The trio will be evaluated early in the week to determine if
they are able to be full participants when the first practice of training camp
kicks off on Friday.
Jones-Drew underwent surgery on his foot in December,
resulting in him missing the team’s entire offseason program. He has yet to be
cleared to practice, but there is hope that this will happen in the
not-too-distant future.
Babin and Blackmon each underwent groin surgery this summer.
Babin’s procedure occurred in mid-June while Blackmon’s took place late last
month. Caldwell said that the Jaguars expect Blackmon to be at least a little
bit limited when training camp workouts begin.
