The New York Giants have expressed confidence in the fact
that they’ll be able to reach a long-term extension agreement with wide receiver
Victor Cruz, but a new contract has yet to result. This apparently hasn’t
dampened the team’s confidence, as Chris Mortensen of ESPN (courtesy of Pro Football Talk) reported yesterday
that New York is 100-percent certain that they’ll come to an agreement with
Cruz by the time training camp opens.
“Everybody I’ve spoken to expects that deal to absolutely get done, to a 100 percent degree of certainty, that Victor Cruz will have a new contract by the time the Giants open training camp,” Mortensen said on NFL Live.
There is still some reason to doubt the team’s confidence,
as we’ve heard similar rumors before. Still, with Mortensen noting 100-percent certainly
and considering training camp is approaching, it does sound like Cruz and the
Giants are finally nearing an agreement that will keep the talented wide out in
New York for years to come.
