The Cincinnati Bengals received a scare during workouts
yesterday, as Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green suffered a left knee injury
while chasing a deep ball out of bounds. While the knee injury could sideline Green
for a week or more, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis does not consider it to be significant,
reports Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
"I think he's fine," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "They went inside just to take a look, but I think he's fine."
Following the play, Green remained on the ground for a few
minutes before begin helped to his feet. He walked off without a limp, but he
was seen sporting a limp later in the day.
Green is a pivotal part to the Bengals’ offense, and it
doesn’t seem like the knee should hinder his start to the regular season. Lewis
sounded like a coach that was trying to limit the wide out’s reps in training
camp anyway to avoid injury, so he’ll likely take this opportunity to be
extremely cautious with Green.
