The New England Patriots have signed free agent quarterback
Tim Tebow. He’s off the market, joining a team that has one of the most sound
quarterback situations in the league with Tom Brady at the helm. This was one
of the reasons New England felt comfortable adding the versatile Tebow, according
to Albert Breer of NFL.com, as there certainly won’t be a quarterback
controversy.
The Patriots discussed the Tebow thing over the weekend at the highest levels of the organization. Was not a haphazard decision to sign him.

... At the end of the day, my sense is they felt like they could go get Tebow because of Tom Brady's presence on the roster.

Breer adds that the contract is of the “low money” variety.
This certainly won’t be an issue for Tebow, who was just hoping to find a gig
as a quarterback professionally somewhere, much less with a team that has Super
Bowl aspirations.
The Patriots connection makes sense considering Bill Belichick’s
love of versatile players and the fact that Josh McDaniels – the man that
drafted Tebow in the first round during his days with the Denver Broncos – is New
England’s offensive coordinator.
Tebow will likely not pass Ryan Mallett as Brady’s backup,
but the Patriots did release third-stringer Mike Kafka on Monday following the
signing.
