New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been recovering
from a Lisfranc injury – a fracture in his foot – after undergoing surgery to
repair the fracture in October. Now, coach Rex Ryan told Seth Walder of The New
York Daily News that there’s a chance Holmes starts the season on the team’s physically
unable to perform (PUP) list.
“Of course Santonio, we’ll see...he’s doing a decent job but we’ll see how he is for training camp,” said Ryan. “There’s a possibility maybe he starts out on PUP, I’m not sure. Seems to be doing well.”
Beyond Holmes, fellow wide receivers Stephen Hill, Jeremy
Kerley and Clyde Gates all missed practice with injuries Wednesday.
