An arrest warrant has been issued for New England Patriots
tight end Aaron Hernandez on a charge of obstruction of justice. The tight end
will be charged in connection of the shooting death of a 27-year-old man, Odin
Lloyd, according to WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
At this point, it’s not clear when and where Hernandez will
be arrested. It’s believed that State Police will be responsible for it, and
there is still the chance that Hernandez’s charges could be upgraded.
Lloyd’s body had been found in a field roughly half-a-mile
from Hernandez’s home on Monday. Lloyd – who was found shot in the head – was driving
an SUV that had been rented in the name of Hernandez and was dating a woman who
is the sister of the tight end’s fiancé.
In a separate case, a lawsuit has been filed alleging that
Hernandez shot a man in the face when his unlicensed gun discharged during an
altercation.
There’s certainly more to come regarding both cases, but
either way this isn’t good news for Hernandez and the Patriots. His legal
issues make the team even thinner at the tight end position, as Rob Gronkowski is
already recovering from forearm and back surgery.
