Aaron Hernandez released by Patriots; charged with murder

It’s been a tough few weeks for Aaron Hernandez, but it all culminated into one extremely eventful day on Wednesday. First, Hernandez was led out of his home in handcuffs, as he was placed under arrest. Shortly after, he lost his job with the New England Patriots, as they announced his release. It would later come out that the tight end was charged with murder in the first degree in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.

At this point, Hernandez faces the following charges in addition to murder; one count of carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm without a valid ID card, according to NFL.com.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty to all of his charges, and he will be held without bail until his next court appearance, which will come on July 24. The case against Hernandez was made, with the prosecution laying out exactly how they believe he killed Lloyd.
McCauley alleges Hernandez shot Lloyd three times right after Lloyd got out of the car. And then Hernandez is alleged to have stood over Lloyd and put two more bullets in his chest.
There’s obviously much to be determined as far as Hernandez’s future goes, but what is certain at this point is the Patriots are without one of their top targets. Questions surround Rob Gronkowski’s health, so just like that New England could be without its dynamic tight end duo. Recent addition Tim Tebow may have to step in sooner than expected.
