Titans rumors: Dwight Freeney to visit Tennessee

The Tennessee Titans were connected to Indianapolis Colts free agent defensive end Dwight Freeney back in March. It appears that the Titans are again kicking the tires on Freeney, as the veteran pass rusher is expected to visit Tennessee in the coming days, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Rapoport adds that no signing between Freeney and the Titans is imminent. Tennessee is visiting with fellow free agent defensive end John Abraham, and the team reportedly wants to gauge how much each veteran player has remaining in the tank before making a decision on which one to pursue.

Freeney struggled handling the Colts' transition to a 3-4 defense last season. He was forced to switch from defensive end to outside linebacker -- something he was unable to do effectively -- and his production decreased as a result.

Considering the Titans already have defensive ends Kamerion Wimbley and Derrick Morgan under contract, Freeney or Abraham would likely be used as a situational pass rusher if they were added by Tennessee.
