Texans’ Brian Cushing will ‘definitely’ be ready for Week 1

While Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing isn’t sure if he’ll be ready for the first practice of the team’s upcoming training camp, he did tell reporters – including Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com – that he’ll “definitely” be on the field for the first game of the regular season.
“My return is right around the corner, so that’s a good feeling,” Cushing said on Monday after the Texans’ first practice of OTAs. “I can definitely tell you I’ll be ready for the first game of the season, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be ready for the first practice come training camp.”
Cushing is returning from the significant knee injury he suffered last season. He tore his ACL last October during a game against the New York Jets, which ended his 2012 season. He’s since been rehabbing feverishly in hopes of returning stronger than before.

While Cushing will not return to practice until training camp in July, he has been running, squatting jumping and working on position drills throughout his rehab process. He feels “great,” adding that he believes he’s doing everything he can at this point.
