Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo underwent a minor surgical procedure to remove a cyst from his back last month, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. The surgery will sideline Romo through organized team activities (otherwise known as OTAs), and sources tell ESPN Dallas that it could keep the quarterback out until training camp.
While some sound concerned about Romo's ability to participate in training camp, the quarterback isn't worried. He told reporters that he expects to be ready to suit up with the rest of his teammates when camp opens on July 19.

"If this was the regular season and I had to play next week, I could,'' Romo told the newspaper. "This is just about being smart. That's why I did it now. This will have no effect on training camp. No way will it have an impact. And I still think there's a good chance I'm on the field for minicamp.''
The injury isn't expected to be a long-term concern, as the procedure was a precautionary measure. It removed a cyst which has been the source of a constant back ache, according to Romo. It's not clear if the cyst was the result of one specific event, and it's also unknown how long Romo has been dealing with the ailment.
