San Diego Chargers sign Max Starks

The San Diego Chargers have been in the market for an offensive tackle throughout the offseason, and they finally were able to add a veteran presence yesterday. The Chargers agreed to a one-year contract with Pittsburgh Steelers free agent Max Starks, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.
Prior to the signing of Starks, the Chargers were poised to enter the season with King Dunlap as their starting left tackle. Starks has a good shot at jumping ahead of Dunlap on the team’s depth chart, while first-round draft pick D.J. Fluker is expected to man the right side of the line.

Starks has spent the past five seasons with the Steelers. While there’s a reason he went unsigned for this long, he still represents an upgrade for the Chargers, considering the dire straits they were facing at left tackle.
