Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray missed the first
day of the team’s OTAs with what coach Jason Garrett characterized as a “hamstring
tweak,” according to Pro Football Talk.

It’s still May, but this news is at least somewhat alarming
considering Murray’s extensive injury history. The running back missed nine
games over his first two seasons in the NFL due to injury.
Garrett continued on to say that the team is being cautious
with Murray. This could mean that he’s held out of practice entirely for OTAs
while his hamstring heals. There’s no reason to believe this is something that
will be an issue come training camp, but hamstring injuries can linger if not
properly treated.
If for whatever reason Murray is forced to miss an extended
period of time, the next running backs in line for Dallas are Philip Tanner,
Lance Dunbar and rookie Joseph Randle. In other words, Murray better be
healthy.
