Brian Urlacher announces retirement from NFL

After a legendary 13-year career, former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Urlacher played 182 games after being drafted 9th overall by the Bears in 2000. He accumulated 1,353 total tackles, 41.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, and 22 interceptions. The 2005 defensive player of the year hold the Bears' team record for tackles. He will easily find his way to Canton, OH.

Prior to his retirement, Urlacher was reportedly mulling offers to join a new team this offseason. There were reports connecting him to the Minnesota Vikings, and he was initially discussing an agreement that would have resulted in him returning to Chicago. Unable to land a deal he considered worth it, Urlacher ultimately decided to hang up his cleats and call it a career.
