Earlier this offseason, it appeared
that former top draft pick Rolando McClain would get a new start with the
Baltimore Ravens. After another run in with the law, McClain has elected to cut
that short, as the Ravens announced yesterday that the 23-year-old is calling
it a career.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome
informed reporters – including NFL.com – of the news yesterday.
"Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said Wednesday. "We have placed him on the Reserve/Retired list."
McClain was selected by the Oakland
Raiders No. 8 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.
Prior to being let go by Oakland, McClain totaled 274 tackles and 6.5 sacks
over 41 career games for the Raiders.
Without McClain, the Ravens will likely
move forward with Arthur Brown and Jameel McClain as their inside linebackers.
They lost future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis to retirement, while Dannell Ellerbe
and Paul Kruger exited via free agency.
