Raiders’ D.J. Hayden out until training camp

When the Oakland Raiders selected cornerback D.J. Harden No. 12 overall in this year’s NFL Draft, his previous health concerns made him an amazing story. Now, a non-life threatening ailment has Hayden out for the remainder of the team’s OTAs, according to Steve Corkran of The Contra Costa Times.
Hayden recently underwent a procedure to remove scar tissue in his abdominal region. Prior to the operation, the cornerback had been complaining about stomach pain.

The surgery was done more as a precaution than anything, and the Raiders expect Hayden to return in time for training camp. Still, it will sideline him for the remainder of OTAs.

Hayden survived and ultimately recovered from a near-fatal heart injury suffered in practice to the point where teams were comfortable considering him as a first-round draft pick.
