Entering the offseason, there was talk that quarterback
JaMarcus Russell was attempting a comeback. Few took the former top pick
seriously, as he still had significant weight to shed. Now, Russell is
reportedly back down to his former playing weight – 265 pounds – and Ian
Rapoport of NFL.com reports this has him receiving “significant” interest from
more than one team.
Today's JaMarcus Russell update: He's down to 265 pounds. He began his latest comeback at 315. Still work to be done. #progress

Russell has dropped 50 pounds since reports of his comeback
began to surface. This represents the exact weight he was during the 2007 NFL
Scouting Combine before the Oakland Raiders selected him.
Rapoport adds that Russell has hired well-known agent Eugene
Parker, and that he’s telling NFL teams that he’s interested in signing with a
club where he can sit on the bench and learn behind a respected leader at
quarterback.
If no NFL teams come calling, Russell is more than happy to
sign with a CFL squad, according to Rapoport. Like the NFL, the CFL has also
reportedly expressed significant interest in Russell.
