Free agent defensive end John Abraham sent out a pair of
tweets which included three words that captured national attention yesterday.
The veteran pass rusher said “retiring 13” in one tweet and followed it up with
“done” in another. Naturally, this led to speculation that the 13-year pro was
calling it a career, but this isn’t the case, according to Ian Rapoport of
NFL.com.

Rapoport spoke to a source close to Abraham who said there
is “nothing” to the retirement talk. Instead, the source said that Abraham is
likely “expressing the frustration” he has with the free agent market and the
way things have played out this offseason.
First, Abraham was cut by the Falcons for payroll purposes.
Now – after recording 10 sacks last season – Abraham remains on the open market
into the month of May.
There hasn’t been a significant amount of interest in
Abraham, but he has visited with the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. While he could be looking for a regular
role, it appears these teams and others view him more as a situational pass
rusher.
