Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew hoping for training camp return

The 2012 season wasn't much fun for the Jacksonville Jaguars or running back Maurice Jones-Drew. He missed a majority of the year to a foot injury, but he's hoping 2013 will be different. Jones-Drew's recovery has gone well so far, and he's still hoping to be ready by the time training camp begins, according to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.

While Jones-Drew didn't practice with the Jaguars yesterday during OTAs, he did run 30 yards at three-quarters speed during the workout. While this may seem like a minor accomplishment, the running back was excited for the progression.

“That was exciting,” he said. “Lately, it’s been one day on, a day off, two days on, a day off — it’s part of the process. I’m closer than I think. I just want to take my time and make sure we do it the right way.”
At this point, Jones-Drew's goal is to resume full-scale training for the month leading into the start of training camp, according to O'Halloran. Having him healthy will be a big boost to whichever quarterback ends up claiming the starting job in Jacksonville.
