Green Bay Packers free agent Charles Woodson recently expressed surprise that he remains unsigned. He may not be on the open market much longer, as he's expected to visit with the Denver Broncos in the near future, according to Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 in Denver.
The Broncos are currently set to enter the season with Rahim Moore and Mike Adams as their starters at the safety positions. It doesn't sound like either is at risk of losing their job, as both are praised within the organization.
For this reason, it would appear that Woodson would only be a fit in Denver as a reserve player. He would certainly boost the team's depth, and he may be more willing to sign on in a lesser role since the Broncos are expected to contend for a Super Bowl this season.
Earlier in the offseason, Woodson received interest from the San Francisco 49ers. It seemed like a solid fit, but San Francisco hasn't reached an agreement with the veteran. Instead, the 49ers have added a safety via the draft and signed another.
If talks fail to develop with the Broncos or other teams, Woodson has indicated that he's prepared to call it a career. It's not expected to come to this, as some team figures to extend the Pro Bowler an offer by the time training camp rolls around.
