At this point, it appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers might not match the offer sheet Emmanuel Sanders signed with the New England Patriots. However, there is at least one reason for the Steelers to bring
Sanders back; quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wants them to, according to Jason
La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Big Ben has been lobbying hard to retain Sanders, calling coach Mike Tomlin and others on the staff urging them to match the $2.5M offer

La Canfora notes that Big Ben “has been lobbying hard to
retain Sanders,” as he’s gone as far as calling head coach Mike Tomlin and
others on the team’s staff and urging them to match the Patriots’ $2.5 million
offer.
While the Steelers have spent a ton of money making
Roethlisberger their franchise quarterback, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll
listen to him. Big Ben also wanted to keep offensive coordinator Bruce Arians,
who eventually parted ways with the club.
The Steelers already lost receiver Mike Wallace to free
agency, it will be interesting to see if they are willing to allow another wide
out to walk this offseason.
