The Seattle Seahawks have traded quarterback Matt Flynn to
the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a pair of draft picks, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

In exchange for Seattle’s backup quarterback, the Raiders
sent a fifth-round pick in 2014 and a conditional selection in the 2015 NFL
Draft to the Seahawks. With Flynn in the fold, Oakland is reportedly working to
trade Carson Palmer, with the Arizona Cardinals as the likely landing spot.
Flynn is scheduled to make much less than Palmer, who was
reportedly unwilling to accept a pay cut to remain with the Raiders. Oakland
wanted to retain Palmer, but he was clearly disgruntled, as the veteran was
reported to have interest in taking a lesser role with a competitor rather than
remaining with the Raiders.
The Seahawks signed Flynn to a multi-year free agent
contract last offseason, prior to drafting Russell Wilson. Considering Wilson
emerged as the team’s long-term starting QB, Flynn was no longer needed. The
27-year-old has only attempted 141 passes over four seasons in the NFL, but he’s
yet to receive a real opportunity as a starter.
