While the New Orleans Saints have admitted to shopping
fourth-string running back Chris Ivory this offseason, general manager Mickey
Loomis told reporters – including Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune – that “no
deal is imminent.”

Loomis adding no deal is imminent in trading Ivory away.

There have reportedly been a few teams interested in Ivory,
one being the New York Jets. New Orleans would certainly be interested in
cashing Ivory in for an additional pick in the upcoming draft if able,
considering they have three running backs in front of him on the depth chart.
This could happen, as Loomis has said that trade talks have
taken place between the Saints and other teams. While a deal isn’t imminent,
discussions could heat up on draft night, if a deal isn’t reached sooner.
At this point, there is speculation that the Jets are
willing to hand over a fifth-round draft pick for Ivory. Rather than take a
late-round selection, the Saints could retain Ivory and hope that someone
becomes more desperate closer to the start of the season.
