Hanie will provide the Ravens with additional backup behind starting
quarterback Joe Flacco, last season’s Super Bowl MVP and the owner of a hefty
new contract.
Last season, Hanie was the third-string quarterback for the
Broncos, behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. He’s now in his third year,
as he had previously been with the Bears backing up Jay Cutler. He appeared in
four starts with the Bears in 2011, playing for the injured Cutler. Hanie
struggled mightily in those games.
Hanie will enter camp battling in-house backup Tyrod Taylor
as the team’s primary reserve at the position.
