NFL rumors: Will Browns, Raiders trade down in draft?

If the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns have it their way, there may be a few trades agreed to early in this year’s NFL Draft. Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that the Raiders and Browns both want to trade down from their No. 3 and No. 6 selections.

The Raiders are hoping to add a second-round pick, as they are without one this year due to their previous trade with the Cincinnati Bengals for quarterback Carson Palmer.

The Browns also want to trade back, and NFL.com speculates the move could be used to pick up West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith a few selections later. There is speculation that Cleveland could be a factor when it comes to Smith.

This draft is considered weak overall, so the Raiders and Browns could find a hard time dropping back. However, falling back and acquiring additional picks would appear to be a good move for either franchise considering they both has several needs entering the new season.
