Former first-overall pick JaMarcus Russell is attempting a
comeback to the NFL, and from one NFC scout’s perspective “a lot of teams” are
following the quarterback closely, according to Mike Freeman of CBS Sports.
This from an NFC scout when asked about the formerly fat mess known as JaMarcus Russell: "I've been following his comeback story pretty closely. I think a lot of teams are. Good chance he gets a second shot."
While Freeman notes that the entire league isn’t following
Russell, “more than a few teams” are monitoring the free agent. He attributes
the level of interest not only to the weight Russell has shed and the new drive
he’s said to possess but to the lack of good quarterbacks in the NFL.
Considering the current free agent crop of QBs wasn’t overly
impressive, and with an uninspiring draft class in front of us, Russell could
be making a comeback push at just the right time.
