NFL rumors: Cardinals, Raiders Carson Palmer trade talks hit snag

After the Oakland Raiders acquired quarterback Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks, they picked up discussions with the Arizona Cardinals regarding Carson Palmer. It appeared that a deal was pending, but the trade has since “hit a snag,” according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

La Canfora later added that the Raiders and Cardinals are working on a restructured salary for Palmer, who is currently set to make $13 in 2013. This salary could certainly represent the snag, as Palmer was reportedly not interested in taking a pay cut in order to remain with the Raiders.

However, it was also reported that Palmer would be willing to take a lesser role with a contender. The Cardinals may not constitute a contender, but the veteran quarterback could like his potential situation in Arizona enough to agree to a reduction in salary.
