Trade talks between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York
Jets involving cornerback Darrelle Revis have cooled over the past few weeks.
However, with the 2013 NFL Draft upcoming, Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune
believes trade talk will pick up again.
The Bucs have expressed interest in Revis, and they’ve
emerged as one of the only teams that will give the cornerback the long-term
contract he’s currently seeking. However, in exchange for Revis, the Jets are
targeting Tampa’s first-round pick this spring – No. 13 overall. The Bucs would
rather send New York a conditional first rounder for the 2014 draft.
Cumming believes the Bucs and Jets could complete a trade
for Revis once draft night rolls around. If the Bucs are unsatisfied with the
selection available at No. 13, they could then trade their pick to New York. However, they could also elect to trade back in the draft and ship some of the
picks they acquire to the Jets.
Whatever the case, there is belief that the Bucs want Revis,
and they’ve yet to sign a cornerback this offseason. It appears that this is
far from over.
